French toast

Kelly

One of my breakfast items on regular rotation is french toast. I'm not sure about your little ones, but my kids (and myself actually) are huge bread lovers. I don't offer bread every day as I prefer to have breakfasts that are higher in protein rather than carbs, but we definitely enjoy having bread at least once a week.

To make it more nutrient-dense and to make sure that we get our protein in, I love serving french toast since the eggs are all baked in and it's just so delicious!

Ingredients:

Bread (a great way to use up any stale slices that you have, or I use sourdough bread)

Eggs

Milk

Steps:

  1. Whisk the eggs into a shallow bowl/plate. I usually use 2 eggs, depending on how many slices of bread there are. Add a splash of milk to it.

  2. Place the bread in the liquid and let it sit for a few minutes to allow it to absorb the liquid (the duration depends on how stale/soft the bread is). Flip it the other way to make sure both sides are covered.

  3. Heat up some butter in a pan, fry the bread on both sides.

  4. I love serving this with my homemade chia seed jam which is super easy to make!

**Do note that all 3 ingredients are individual allergens so make sure you have tested each of them separately before making this, if you are serving it to your baby.
